The book starts out by introducing the main character, Jonah Skidmore. Jonah is the average 13-year-old boy and the most notable thing about him is that he is adopted. He has a regular family and a younger sister, Katherine, who is not adopted. A little into the book Jonah gets a letter that tells him a message about him being one of the missing. Although Jonah is surprised he passes it off as a joke and doesn’t think much of it. When Jonah’s friend gets a similar letter in the mail Jonah starts to question it but still doesn’t take it too seriously. Jonah learns that his friend is adopted so the two friends think the letters have to do with them being adopted. Jonah starts to take the letters as less of a joke so Jonah, his friend, and his sister try to figure out who is behind the mysterious letters.

After digging into the mystery of the letters for a bit, they soon realize there's a lot more to the letters than they had previously thought. They run into a woman who tells them that a plane appeared out of nowhere, filled with only babies. Although the trio is skeptical of the plane story at first the woman explains it more and they start to believe it. After some more research, they learn time travel exists and the plane they learned about earlier was actually a way of time traveling. They learn that two time travelers sent them to the present from the medieval ages. The original time two time travelers were trying to take them to the future but failed so they attempt to take the kids in a cave and use the cave to teleport them to the future. The two time travelers get defeated by another time traveler who tried to take them back to the medieval ages.

I would not recommend this book; it is not an enjoyable read. Although I read it a long time ago and don’t remember many details of the plot I can recall that it was not an interesting book. The book has a weird story and lacks building up the plot well. The first book ends without accomplishing much and is mainly just a setup for the second book of the series. Additionally, the entire plot is somewhat boring and is too random. The plot seems like the author used making up random events to make the book less predictable as much of the plot is somewhat generic. Many parts of the plot aren’t realistic in the sense that they don’t fit in well with the rest of the plot.

  1. I agree with your statement about the plot being very random. Although I have never read the book, your summary provides enough information for me to conclude that the story is not cohesive at all. Thanks for the review, Ross, I will be sure to steer clear of this book in the future.
