Image
by evie         The cover of Anya's Ghost by Vera Brosgol Summary (!!SPOILERS!!)             This book is a graphic novel about a girl named Anya, her experiences with a ghost named Emily, and also with high school. It starts when Anya, distracted by her thoughts, falls down an old well while walking to school. She finds the ghost's skeleton, and meets Emily, the small ghost girl. When she eventually gets helped out of the well, she mistakenly brings part of Emily's skeleton with her. Fast forward two days later, Anya finds Emily's bone in her bag while at school. She quickly finds out that having a ghost with her is extremely helpful (Emily can look at answers to the test she didn't study for, spy on her crush, etc.). After a while though, Anya notices that she has started to change. Emily's kind of obsessive over Anya's love life, and doesn't seem interested in solving the mystery of her murder at all. I wonder why? Opinion cool...

A review of Pride and Prejudice

Image
Pride and Prejudice         Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen, is without a doubt one of the most widely-known books of all time. Pride and Prejudice explores themes that can still be seen everywhere in the modern world. Despite having a distinctly old feel to it,  Pride and Prejudice 's core themes and messages transcend time. It follows their pursuits and advances by many different characters, and explores the idea of marrying for love versus marrying for money, and how subjective first impressions can damage relationships before they start.          Overall, the internal ideas and messages are very well designed: In hindsight, after a bit of thought, the execution appears much better than while reading. While the story is old, and...

Top Picks From Each Genres

If you put me on the spot and ask me my favorite book, I would definitely blank out. Even with time to think, I would never be able to choose. However, these are some of my top picks from a few genres.  Classic: The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett Classic books are always a hit or miss for me. Most of the time, these novels are incredibly boring or hard to read. However, some classic novels exceed all expectations. One of these novels includes the Secret Garden. The Secret Garden follows the story of a young orphaned and spoiled girl named Mary Lennox. After her parents’ death, she is sent to live with her widowed uncle in England. As Mary explores her uncle’s estate, she not only meets new people but also uncovers secrets. The first time I read this book was when I was around 10-years-old. Burnett incorporates dialects into the dialogue which was, at first, confusing to read. However, as I read on, I quickly adored the book. It was a simple storyline, but it was me...
